La Sila
The Sila is the name of the mountainous plateau and historic region located in Calabria, southern Italy. It occupies part of the provinces of Cosenza, Crotone and Catanzaro, and is divided (from north to south) into the Sila Greca, Sila Grande and Sila Piccola ("Greek", "Greater" and "Lesser Sila", respectively) sub-ranges. The Busento River is a left side tributary of the Crathis (Crati in Italian) river, which flows about 95 kilometers in Calabria, a region of southern Italy, from the Apennines to the Ionian Sea. The Busento River joins the Crathis in the centre of Cosenza. Its fame is due to a historic event in 410, when Alaric, king of the Goths, died during the siege of the town.
