Siege of Gaeta (1734)

For other sieges of this city at different dates, see Siege of Gaeta. The Siege of Gaeta was a siege during the War of Polish Succession fought at Gaeta, Italy. The Habsburgs at Gaeta withstood four months of siege from the Bourbon armies under the Duke of Parma (the future Charles III of Spain). They were defeated on 6 August, 1734 when the Spanish and French stormed the city.

Formia-Gaeta railway station

Formia-Gaeta railway station (Italian: Stazione di Formia-Gaeta), previously named Formia railway station (Italian: Stazione di Formia), serves the cities and comunes of Formia and Gaeta, in the region of Lazio, central Italy. Opened in 1892, the station presently forms part of the Rome–Formia–Naples railway, which was completed in 1927.

Gulf of Gaeta

The Gulf of Gaeta is a body of water on the west coast of Italy and part of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is bounded by Cape Circeo in the north, Ischia and the Gulf of Naples in the south, and the Pontine Islands in the west. The gulf is named for the nearby Italian city of Gaeta. The Volturno is the primary river draining into the gulf.
