Umoja, Kenya

Umoja is an all-female village located in northern Kenya near the town of Archers Post in Samburu District, 380 km from the capital, Nairobi. It was founded by Rebecca Lolosoli, a Samburu woman, for homeless survivors of violence against women, and young girls running from forced marriages. They run a cultural center and camping site for tourists visiting the adjacent Samburu National Reserve. They create and sell jewellery to benefit the village.

Mbeere District

Mbeere District is an administrative district in the Eastern Province of Kenya. Its capital town is Siakago. The district has a population of 170,950 and an area of 2,093 km². The district was split from Embu District in 1996. The natives here speak kimbeere language. The district hosts the famous seven folks dams, which include: Masinga dam, Kamburu dam, Gitaru dam, Kindaruma dam and Kiambere dam. The dams are a part of Tana River.

Lerata

Lerata is a village in northern Kenya, between Marsabit and Shaba, Kenya. It is in an area populated by the Samburu people. Lerata is located along the A2 road, not far north of Archer's Post. The C79 road towards Maralal and Baragoi has its eastern end in Lerata. Lerata is part of the Waso East ward in Samburu East Constituency and Samburu County Council of Samburu District.
