Chemelil

Chemelil is a town in Kenya. It is part of Muhoroni Division of Nyando District in Nyanza Province. Chemelil has a railway station along the Nairobi-Kisumu Railway between the stations of Kibigori and Muhoroni. The town is located 40 kilometres east of Kisumu, the Provincial capital. Muhoroni, another town, is located 10 kilometres east of Chemelil. Chemelil is home to Chemelil Sugar Company. The latter also owns Chemelil Sugar FC, a football club playing in the Kenyan Premier League.

Chemelil Sports Complex

Chemelil Sports Complex is a multi-use stadium in Chemelil, Kenya. It is used mostly for football matches, and is the home stadium of Chemelil Sugar F.C. The stadium holds 5,000 people.

Muhoroni

Muhoroni is a town in Kenya. It is part of Nyando District of Nyanza Province. Muhoroni hosts a town council. It has an urban population of 13,664 and a total population of 31,148. Muhoroni has a railway station along the Nairobi-Kisumu Railway. The town is located 50 kilometres east of Kisumu, the Provincial capital. Chemelil, a smaller town, is located 10 kilometres west of Muhoroni.

Nyando District

Nyando district is a fairly new district in Kenya which broke away from Kisumu District in Nyanza Province in 1998. Nyando district borders the Rift Valley Province. The district is named after the Nyando River. Its capital is in a small town called Awasi, located 30 kilometres east of the provincial capital Kisumu. Other towns and villages in the district include Muhoroni, Chemelil, Ahero, Miwani, Koru, Kibigori, and Fort Ternan.
