At the end of the 19th century, the Russian consul in Prizren mentioned this village and it's rural church, which was inhabited by Serbs.

It has 10 medieval Serbian Orthodox churches, including the notable Church of Virgin Hodegetria, which was destroyed in 1999. It has an Albanian majority, and Serbian minority; according to the 1991 census, it had 5016 inhabitants.
