Tarabulus Governorate
Tarabulus Governorate was one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Libya from 1963 to 1983. It was also known as Tripoli Governorate because it contained the city of Tripoli, which was also its administrative capital. Tarabulus was an older name for Tripoli, and was sometimes applied to the entire province of Tripolitania. The governorate's population was 379,925 in 1964 and had risen to 544,842 by 1972.

‘Aziziya
‘Aziziya, sometimes spelled El Azizia, is a city and the capital of the Jafara district in northwestern Libya, 41 kilometres southwest of Tripoli. Before 2001 it was in the ‘Aziziya District and its capital. ‘Aziziya is a major trade centre of the Sahel Jeffare plateau, being on a trade route from the coast to the Nafusa Mountains and the Fezzan region to the south. As of 2004, the city's population has been estimated at over 280,000.

Joudaim
Joudaim is a town in Libya northeast of Zawiya, noted during the push of the National Liberation Army on their way to "27km" crossing, before entering Tripoli. On 21 August 2011, a Sky News report stated that Joudaim had been taken by anti-Gaddafi forces as they advanced towards Tripoli as part of the 2011 Libyan civil war. The area is heavily forested and was host to several Arab Region Scout Jamborees.

Al Maya
Al Maya is a settlement in Libya. On 21 August 2011 rebels fighting in the Libyan civil war advanced on the town but were pushed back by heavy artillery. After the reverse at Maya, Nato reportedly launched air strikes in the area. Rebels then later seized control of Maya, one resident saying that government forces put up "a brief fight" at the village, leaving behind a burned-out tank, and some cars that had been torched. "I am very happy," said one resident.
