Interesting facts about this location

Aït Benhaddou

Aït Benhaddou is a fortified city, or ksar, along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. It is situated in Souss-Massa-Drâa on a hill along the Ounila River and is known for its kasbahs, although they take damage with each rainstorm. Most of the town's inhabitants now live in a more modern village at the other side of the river; however, eight families still live within the ksar.

Tizgzaouine

Tizgzaouine is a small town and rural commune in Taroudant Province of the Souss-Massa-Drâa region of Morocco. At the time of the 2004 census, the commune had a total population of 5986 people living in 1061 households.

Imini River

Imini River is a river in Morocco, located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:30.9666667|N|7.0833333|W||||| | |name= }}. It flows from eastern Atlas Mountains and enters Draa River. It provides the surrounding areas with lush green grass and fresh water.

Tamdakht meteorite

The Tamdakht meteorite fell near Ouarzazate, Morocco on 2008-12-20 producing a strewn field of approximately 25 kilometres by 2 kilometres and two small impact craters, one of about 1.1 metres diameter and 70 centimetres depth at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:31|09.8||N|7|00.9||W| | |name= }} and the other of about 20 centimetres diameter and 10 centimetres depth at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:31|09.9||N|07|02.3||W| | |name= }}.

Telouet

Telouet is a Kasbah along the former route of the caravans from the Sahara over the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. It lies at an elevation of 1,800 metres and was the seat of the El Glaoui family's power. The palace can still be visited but it is steadily becoming more damaged and is slowly collapsing. In 2010, work was underway to restore the property.
