Swakopmund

Swakopmund is a city on the coast of northwestern Namibia, 280 km west of Windhoek, Namibia's capital. It is the capital of the Erongo administrative district. The town has 42,000 inhabitants and covers 193 square kilometres of land. The city is situated in the Namib desert. Swakopmund is a beach resort and an example of German colonial architecture. It was founded in 1892 as the main harbour for German South-West Africa, and a sizable part of its population is still German-speaking today.

Namib High School

Namib High School is a secondary government school in Swakopmund, Namibia. It has 540 learners and 26 teachers. Founded as Städtische Realschule mit Grundschule (Municipal High School with Primary School) during the colonial time of German South-West Africa in 1913 it is one of the oldest schools in Namibia.

Swakopmund Railway Station

Swakopmund Railway Station is a railway station serving the town of Swakopmund in Namibia. It is part of the TransNamib railway network. Swakopmund was the starting point of the first state railway line in German South West Africa. This line was built in 1902 during Imperial Germany's colonial rule, and connected Swakopmund to Windhoek. In 1914 the extension to Walvis Bay was completed, with a railtrack very close to the shore of the Atlantic Ocean.
