Mahabharat Range

The Mahabharat Range (Nepali: महाभारत श्रृंखला mahābhārat shrinkhalā) – also called the Lesser Himalaya – is a major east-west mountain range with elevations 1,500 to 2,700 meters (5,000 to 9,000 feet) along the crest, paralleling the much higher Great Himalaya range from the Indus River in Pakistan across northern India, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan but then the two ranges become increasingly difficult to differentiate east of Bhutan as the ranges approach the Brahmaputra River.

Agni Air Flight CHT, an Agni Air-operated Dornier Do 228 (flight AG-CHT), crashed, after a failed go-around, near Jomsom Airport in Jomsom, Nepal, on 14 May 2012, killing 15 of the 21 passengers and crew, including both pilots.

Jomsom Airport

Jomsom Airport is an airport serving Jomsom, a town in the Mustang District of the Dhawalagiri Zone in Nepal. It is known as one of the world's most dangerous airfields and is a particular favourite of flight simulator fans. It serves as the gateway to Muktinath temple, which is a popular pilgrimage for Nepalis and Indians.

Mustang District

Mustang District, a part of Dhaulagiri Zone, is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia. The district, with Jomsom as its headquarters, covers an area of 3,573 km² and has a population (2001) of 14,981. The district straddles the Himalayas and extends northward onto the Tibetan plateau where the former Lo Kingdom of Mustang is found, comprising the northern two-thirds of the Mustang District.
