ASTRON

ASTRON is the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy. Its main office is in Dwingeloo in the National Park Dwingelderveld in the province of Drenthe. ASTRON is part of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).

Dwingeloo Radio Observatory

The Dwingeloo Radio Observatory, is a single-dish radio telescope with a diameter of 25 m. Construction started in 1954, and the telescope was completed in 1956. At that time it was the largest radio telescope in the world. As of 2000, it was no longer in operation in an official capacity and since August 2009 is officially a Dutch industrial heritage monument. Anholt, Drenthe

Anholt is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is located in the municipality De Wolden, about 2 km west of Pesse, to which it belongs. According to the 19th century historian A.J. van der Aa, it had about 20 inhabitants in the middle of the 19th century, and was also called "Anhalt".
