Donkse Laagten

The Donkse Laagten is a small Dutch nature reserve of roughly two square kilometres in the Alblasserwaard in the province of South Holland. It is located in the municipality of Molenwaard, between the towns Streefkerk to the northwest and Bleskensgraaf to the south. The area is governed by the organization Staatsbosbeheer. There is no public transportation to the Donkse Laagten, but it is open for recreational use.

Lek (river)

The Lek is a river in the western Netherlands of some 60 km in length. It is the continuation of the Nederrijn after the Kromme Rijn branches off at the town of Wijk bij Duurstede. The main westbound waterway is hereafter called the Lek River. The Nederrijn is, itself, a distributary branch of river Rhine. The name "Lek" is derived either from the Middle Dutch words "lake" and "leek", meaning "watercourse".

Berkenwoude

Berkenwoude is a village in the Netherlands, in the municipality of Bergambacht. Until 1985, it was a separate municipality. The village has aproximately 1,500 inhabitants and it is placed in the middle of the Krimpener Waard.
