Pyramid Valley
Pyramid Valley is a limestone rock formation near Waikari in the North Canterbury region of New Zealand. It lies 80 km north-west of Christchurch. On the foot of the valley is a swamp which became notable in 1939 as New Zealand's largest paleontological site for moa fossils. In 1938 the landowners Joseph and Rob Hodgen found three large bones of Dinornis giganteus while they buried a dead horse in the swamp.

Medbury
Medbury is a rural locality in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is located just off State Highway 7 near the Hurunui River. There is no longer a significant population base forming a township, just rural properties. On 15 December 1884, an extension of the railway line that ran to Waikari was opened to Medbury, and it remained the terminus for a little over a year before another extension was opened, this one to Culverden, on 8 February 1886.

Waipara
Waipara is a small town in north Canterbury, on the banks of the Waipara River. It is at the junction of State Highways 1 and 7 60 kilometres north of Christchurch. It is also situated on the Main North Line railway. The Weka Pass Railway has its base in Waipara, and runs on 12 kilometres of track between here and Waikari over the former route of the Waiau Branch, a branch line railway that diverged from the Main North Line and ran to Waiau.

Mount Grey / Maukatere
Mount Grey / Maukatere is a 934 metres mountain 15 kilometres west of Amberley in New Zealand. Mount Grey is named after Sir George Grey, the governor and Premier between 1845 and 1879. The Maori name for the mountain was Maukatere, which means "floating mountain", as they believed spirits of the dead left from the summit on the long journey to Cape Reinga. In 1998, as a result of the settling of the Ngai Tahu Treaty claim, the mountain officially became Mount Grey / Maukatere.
