Tokarahi
Tokarahi is a small village located in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. Its location is a rural setting in the Waiareka Valley, inland from Oamaru. Economic activity is focused on agriculture. For a number of decades, Tokarahi served as the terminus of one arm of the Ngapara and Tokarahi Branches, two connected branch line railways built to open up Oamaru's hinterland and encourage farming development.

Weston, New Zealand
Weston is a township situated 5 km inland from Oamaru, South Island, New Zealand. It is regarded as one of the more affluent townships of the Waitaki District and had a population of 730 in the 2006 census. Weston has some of the largest sporting grounds in the Oamaru region, with the Weston Domain having a full size cricket oval, two football pitches and two rugby union fields, accompanied by a large pavilion and public garden/recreation area.

Waitaki District
The Waitaki district, in the Canterbury and Otago regions of New Zealand, straddles the traditional border between the two regions, the Waitaki River. It has a land area of 7,151.94 km² (2,761.38 sq mi), divided 59.28% to Canterbury Region and 40.72% to Otago Region. It is the only district in the South Island that is divided between two regions. A major reason for this split was the governance of the Waitaki River which forms a political boundary between Canterbury and Otago.

North Otago Astronomical Society Observatory
North Otago Astronomical Society's Observatory is situated in Stoke Street, Oamaru, New Zealand. The Society has a small but active membership, who meet on the first Monday of each month. Public nights are held at the observatory each Friday, weather permitting, during the first and last quarters of the Moon. However, the observatory is closed during the summer months. Each September, the Society hosts the Stargazers' Getaway weekend gathering at Camp Iona, Herbert, 15 minutes south of Oamaru.
