Maungaturoto

Maungaturoto is a small town in the Northland Region of New Zealand. The population was 837 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 87 from 2001. It is the second largest settlement in the Kaipara District. The township is located close to the Otamatea River, an estuarial arm of the Kaipara Harbour 25 kilometres north of Wellsford and 45 kilometres south of Whangarei. Maungaturoto also has its own motocross club (www. maungaturotomx. com) where members regularly meet.

Pahi River

The Pahi River is a river of the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows generally west from its origins southwest of Maungaturoto, and the last few kilometres of its length form an upper silty arm of the Kaipara Harbour. It forms one of the arms of the Arapaoa River, in the northeastern part of the harbour's system.

Matakohe River

The Matakohe River is a river of the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. The river is a short tributary of the Arapaoa River, which it joins 15 kilometres east of Ruawai.

Kauri Museum

The Kauri Museum is in the west coast village of Matakohe, Northland, New Zealand. The museum, to the south of the Waipoua Forest, contains many exhibits that tell the story of the pioneering days when early European settlers in the area extracted kauri timber and kauri gum. The museum has over 4000 sq metres of undercover exhibits, including the largest collection of kauri gum in the world, and the largest collection of kauri furniture.
