Maritime Academy of Nigeria

The Maritime Academy of Nigeria is a federally owned educational institute in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Originally called the Nautical College of Nigeria, it was established in 1979 to educate and train shipboard officers, ratings and shore-based management personnel. The first batch of Cadets graduated in 1983. In 1988 the college's mandate was expanded to training all levels and categories of personnel for all facets of the Nigerian maritime industry.

Akwa Ibom Airport

Akwa Ibom Airport is an airport in Oron serving Uyo, the capital city of the Akwa Ibom state in Nigeria and other neighbouring towns in the state, including Eket, Ikot Ekpene and Oron. The first phase of the construction of the airport began in 2006 and was completed in 2009. Akwa Ibom Airport opened on September 23, 2009,and the first scheduled passenger service commenced on December 2, 2009, when Arik Air began offering flights to Abuja and Lagos.

Cross River (Nigeria)

Cross River (of which its native name is Oyono) is the main river in southeastern Nigeria and gives its name to Cross River State. It originates in Cameroon, where it takes the name of the Manyu River. Although not long by African standards its catchment has high rainfall and it becomes very wide.
