Bakassi

Bakassi is a the peninsula on the African Atlantic Gulf of Guinea. It lies between the Cross River estuary, near the city of Calabar in the west, and the Rio del Ray estuary on the east. Cross River (Nigeria)

Cross River (of which its native name is Oyono) is the main river in southeastern Nigeria and gives its name to Cross River State. It originates in Cameroon, where it takes the name of the Manyu River. Although not long by African standards its catchment has high rainfall and it becomes very wide.

Calabar

Calabar (also referred to as 'Canaan City') is a city in Cross River State, coastal southeastern Nigeria. The original name for Calabar was Atakpa, from the Jukun language. The city is watered by the Calabar and Great Kwa Rivers and creeks of the Cross River (from its inland delta). Calabar is the capital of Cross River State. For the purpose of administration, the city is divided into Calabar Municipal and Calabar South LGAs.
