Iwo, Nigeria

Iwo is a city in Osun State, Nigeria that is the seat of the Iwo Kingdom, a traditional state. The Iwo people, like all other people of Yoruba stock are said to have belonged to Ile-Ife from where they migrated sometimes in the 14th century. The earliest settlement initiated by Adekola Telu a prince from Ife. Adekola Telu was the son of the 16th Ooni of Ife a female called Luwo Gbagida.

Oba Hills Forest Reserve

Oba Hills Forest Reserve is a reserve in Osun State, Nigeria that covers about 52 km of hilly terrain with deep gorges. A 2003 report by the UICN said about 12% of the reserve had been planted with teak. Some chimpanzee sightings had been reported, and in 1999 a dead chimp was offered for sale in a local market. A 2009 report said that almost all of the reserve had been converted to plantations and farms, with only two gullies remaining forest-covered.

Irewole is a Local Government Area in Osun State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Ikire in the south of the area at{{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:7|21|40|N|4|11|00|E|region:AU_type:city_source:GNS-enwiki | |name= }}. It has an area of 271 km² and a population of 143,599 at the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 221.

Ikire

Ikire is a town in Osun State, Nigeria. Historical Background PRINCE AKINRERE, a renowned elephant hunter from Ile-Ife, founded the Ikire Township. Prince Akinrere was said to have sought the permission of his father Ewuwemi, the Ooni of Ife, to undertake an adventure for establishing his own town that he would reign as Oba. As it was the custom in those days, Ifa Oracle had to be consulted before important decision could be taken.
