Ikire

Ikire is a town in Osun State, Nigeria. Historical Background PRINCE AKINRERE, a renowned elephant hunter from Ile-Ife, founded the Ikire Township. Prince Akinrere was said to have sought the permission of his father Ewuwemi, the Ooni of Ife, to undertake an adventure for establishing his own town that he would reign as Oba. As it was the custom in those days, Ifa Oracle had to be consulted before important decision could be taken.

Iwo, Nigeria

Iwo is a city in Osun State, Nigeria that is the seat of the Iwo Kingdom, a traditional state. The Iwo people, like all other people of Yoruba stock are said to have belonged to Ile-Ife from where they migrated sometimes in the 14th century. The earliest settlement initiated by Adekola Telu a prince from Ife. Adekola Telu was the son of the 16th Ooni of Ife a female called Luwo Gbagida.
