Changbai Mountains

The Changbai Mountain Range (also called Šanggiyan Mountain Range) or Jangbaek Mountain Range (also called Ohnan Mountains) are a mountain range on the border between China and North Korea (41°41' to 42°51'N; 127°43' to 128°16'E). In Russia this range is called "Vostochno-Manchzhurskie gory" ("East Manchurian mountain range") and considered as a part of more long Manchu-Korean mountain range ("Manchzuro-Koreiskie gory"), which separates China from Korea and Russian Primorsky Krai.

Samjiyon County

Samjiyŏn, or Samjiyŏn-kun, is a district in Ryanggang province, North Korea. It has its own airport. It takes its name from three lakes in the county, which are known as the Samjiyŏn. Samjiyŏn is situated near Mount Baekdu, and tour groups fly to the district's airport to see the fabled mountain. Many houses and buildings in Samjiyŏn have been recently upgraded, and many new buildings, including a recreational centre for youths, were finished in 2005.

Heaven Lake

Heaven Lake (천지 in Korean; 天池 in Chinese) is a crater lake on the border between China and North Korea. It lies within a caldera atop the volcanic Baekdu Mountain, a part of the Baekdudaegan mountain range and the Changbai mountain range. It is located partly in Ryanggang Province, North Korea, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:42.006|N|128.057|E||||| | |name= }}, and partly in Jilin Province, northeastern China.

Baekdu Mountain

Baekdu Mountain, also known in China as Changbai Mountain (when referencing only the mountain) and Baitou Mountain (when referencing both the mountain and its crater lake, Heaven Lake), is an active volcanic mountain on the border between North Korea and China, located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:42|00|24|N|128|03|18|E|type:landmark | |name= }}. At 2,744 m, it is the highest mountain of the Changbai mountain range to the north and Baekdudaegan mountain range to the south.
