Skogerøya

Skogerøya is an uninhabited island in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The 129-square-kilometre partially forested island lies south of the Varangerfjorden, west of the Bøkfjorden, north of the Korfjorden, and east of the Kjøfjorden. The highest point on the island is the 445-metre tall Skogerøytoppen. The island lies about 10 kilometres northwest of the town of Kirkenes. It is used as a summer and autumn grazing area for reindeer.

Bøkfjorden

Bøkfjorden is a fjord in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The 23-kilometre long fjord is a southern branch off of the main Varangerfjorden. The river Pasvikelva empties into the Bøkfjorden at the village of Elvenes (which lies only about 1,500 metres from the Norway–Russia border. The town of Kirkenes lies on the shore of the fjord. The large island of Skogsøya lies on the western side of the fjord. The Bøkfjord Lighthouse is located in the mouth of the Bøkfjorden.

Vadsøya

Vadsøya is an island in Vadsø Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The island lies in the Varangerfjorden, just south of the coast of the mainland Varanger Peninsula. The island is part of the town of Vadsø. The 0.8-square-kilometre island is connected to the mainland by a bridge that branches off the European route E75 highway in the centre of the town of Vadsø. The Hurtigruten coastal express boats dock on Vadsøya. The island was the original location of what is now the town of Vadsø.

Garrison of Sør-Varanger

Garrison of Sør-Varanger (Norwegian: Garnisonen i Sør-Varanger, GSV) is a military camp of the Norwegian Army. It is located at Høybuktmoen in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The military camp sits adjacent to Kirkenes Airport, Høybuktmoen. The garrison is organized as a battalion and its main job is guard the 196-kilometer Norway–Russia border. It consists of the Training Company (GRKP/U), the Support Company (GAKP) and the Border Company (GRKP).

Kirkenes Church

Kirkenes Church is the main parish church in Sør-Varanger Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the town of Kirkenes, just off the European route E6 highway. The church is part of the Sør-Varanger parish in the Varanger deanery in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The concrete and wood church was built in 1959 and it seats about 275 people.
