Valestrand

Valestrand is a former municipality in Hordaland County, Norway. It was created by a split from Stord on May 15, 1868. At that time Valestrand had a population of 900. On 1 January 1870 a district of Moster with its 247 inhabitants was moved to Valestrand. On 1 January 1964 Valestrand became a part of Sveio municipality. The village Valestrand is presently located in northern Sveio.

Valestrandfossen

Valestrandfossen or Valestrandsfossen is a settlement on the island municipality of Osterøy, Hordaland, Norway. Valestrandfossen is the largest settlement on the island. It is located by the Sørfjorden fjord and is connected by the ferry MF Ole Bull to Åsane in Bergen on the other side of the fjord. The Valestrandfossen urban settlement, as defined by Statistics Norway, had a population of 1,012 on January 1, 2008. The famous Norwegian violinist and composer Ole Bull had his summer house here.
