Omega (navigation system)

OMEGA was the first truly global radio navigation system for aircraft, operated by the United States in cooperation with six partner nations. It enabled ships and aircraft to determine their position by receiving very low frequency (VLF) radio signals transmitted by a network of fixed terrestrial radio beacons, using a receiver unit. It became operational around 1971 and was shut down in 1997.

Aldersund Church is a parish church in the municipality of Lurøy in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Haugland. The church is part of the Aldersund parish in the Nord-Helgeland deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in 1971 and it seats about 230 people.

Aldra

Aldra is an island in the municipality of Lurøy in Nordland county, Norway. It is located just off the mainland coast, north of the village of Haugland and west of Brattland. The island is separated from the mainland by the Aldersundet. The islands of Stigen and Lurøya lie to the west. The village of Aldra lies on the southeastern side of the island. Aldra island is used as a VLF-transmission site.

Grønsvik coastal battery

Grønsvik coastal artillery battery (HKB 16/974 Grönsviken) at Helgeland in Norway, was a German army coastal artillery battery, built between 1942 and 1945 as one of ten coastal batteries in Artillery group Sandnessjöen (Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Regiment 974). The coastal battery is today a museum whose purpose is to show the public that the Atlantic Wall in Norway was a lot more than the big naval batteries one can find scattered along the coast.

Sørfjorden Church is a parish church in the municipality of Rødøy in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sørfjorden. The church is part of the Rødøy indre parish in the Nord-Helgeland deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in 1916 and it seats about 230 people. It was designed by architect O.M. Olsen.
