Kykkelsrud

Kykkelsrud is a village in Askim municipality, Norway. Located a few kilometres west of the town Askim, it is a part of the urban area of the same name, which has a population of 12,570. Kykkelsrud, located on the east bank of the Glomma river, has a power plant which harnesses the Kykkelsrud waterfall.

Smaalenene Bridge

Smaalenene bridge, and the new part of the highway between Oslo and Stockholm was opened November 23, 2010 by the Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. The bridge is 315 meters long and crosses the longest river in Norway, Glomma. The main span is 185 meters and the tower is 88 meter high. The buildingprosess was started in 2007. The bridge which is 315 meter long has a tower close 90 meter hige and is founded on a 24 meter high column rising from the bottom of river Glomma.

Fossum Bridge

Fossum Bridge is a road bridge in Askim, Norway, crossing the river Glomma. The old wooden bridge, an arch bridge with two spans, opened in 1856. The bridge was partly destroyed in a battle in 1940. The current bridge dates from 1961, and is a suspension bridge with a main span of 125 metres.

Langnes Station is a railway station located at Langnes in Askim, Norway on the Østfold Line. The station is served by the Oslo Commuter Rail line 560 from Oslo S. The station was opened in 1932.

Battle of Langnes

The Battle of Langnes, or the Battle of Langnes Entrenchment, was a battle fought between Norway and Sweden as a part of the Swedish-Norwegian War of 1814. The battle, even as it ended inconclusively, served as a tactical victory to the Norwegians since they now could avoid an unconditional surrender to the Swedish.
