Red Cross Nordic United World College

The school UWC Red Cross Nordic (UWCRCN), formerly known as Red Cross Nordic United World College, was founded in 1995 and is the ninth member of the today 12 United World Colleges, others having been established in Wales, Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, India, Singapore, Swaziland, United States, Costa Rica, the Netherlands and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Espedal

Espedal is a valley and hamlet in the municipality of Fjaler in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located about 12 kilometres southwest of the municipal center of Dale, and about 8 kilometres southwest of the village of Flekke. The area is owned by the Espedal family. Espedal is featured in the 2007 documentary film True Norwegian Black Metal which focused on some aspects of the life of black metal performer Kristian Espedal.

Battle of Fjaler

The battle of Fjaler was an engagement related to Harald Fairhair's unification of Norway. After having subdued the kingdom of Firda, Harald left for the east, placing Håkon Ladejarl in possession of Firda. Håkon sent a messenger to earl Atle Mjove in Sogn, telling him the king Harald had given the order that Atle should give Sogn to him. Atle answered that he would do no such thing unless told by the king in person.

Dalsfjorden (Sunnfjord)

Dalsfjorden is a fjord in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located between the municipalities of Askvoll, Fjaler, and Gaular. The fjord is about 40 kilometres long and it is generally about 0.5 to 1 kilometre (to mi) wide. There are two ferry links operated by Fjord1 Nordvestlandske that cross the fjord. The first one travels the Askvoll-Gjervik-Fure route on the western end of the fjord. The second one travels from Dale to Eikenes.

Havørn Accident

The Havørn Accident was a controlled flight into terrain of a Junkers Ju 52 aircraft into the mountain Lihesten in Hyllestad, Norway on 16 June 1936 at 07:00. The aircraft, operated by Norwegian Air Lines, was en route from Bergen to Tromsø. The pilots were unaware that they were flying a parallel to the planned course, 15 to 20 kilometers (to mi) further east. The crew of four and three passengers were all killed in what was the first fatal aviation accident in Norway.
