It is located about 140 km (1.5 hours) from Muscat and has a population estimated at 35,000 people. Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate

Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate is a governorate of Oman. It was created on 28 October 2011 when Ash Sharqiyah Region was split into Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate and Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate. The affiliated wilayats are Ibra, Al Mudhaibi, Bidiya, Al Kabil, Wadi Bani Khalid and Dima W’attayeen. The centre of the governorate is the Wilayat of Ibra.
