Malakand Division

Malakand Division was an administrative division of the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan, until the reforms of 2000 abolished the third tier of government. The Division included the districts of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, Shangla and Malakand.

Dir District

Dir District was a district of the North West Frontier Province (now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa) of Pakistan between 1970 and 1996. It was part of Malakand Division. Dir District was created in 1970 after the princely state of Dir was abolished the year before. Dir District was 5,280 square kilometres in area and lay along the disputed border controlled by the Afghan nationalists. It is situated between Chitral and Peshawar. In 1996 the district was split into Upper Dir and Lower Dir.

Palula language

Palula (also spelled Phalura, Palola, Phalulo), Ashreti, Aćharêtâʹ, or Dangarikwar (the name used by Khowar speakers), is a language spoken by approximately 10,000 people in the valleys of Ashret and Biori, as well as in the village Puri (also Purigal) in the Shishi valley, and at least by a portion of the population in the village Kalkatak, in the Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
