Bhong

Bhong is a small but important town of Rahim Yar Khan District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is a Union Council of Sadiqabad tehsil and is located 200 kilometres away from Bhawalpur at 28° 25' 0" North, 69° 55' 0" East. Guddu Barrage

Guddu Barrage is a barrage on the Indus River near Kashmore in the Sindh province of Pakistan. President Iskander Mirza laid the foundation-stone of Guddu Barrage on 2 February 1957. The barrage was completed in 1962 at a cost of 474.8 million rupees and inaugurated by Field Marshal Ayub Khan. Guddu Barrage is used to control water flow in the River Indus for irrigation and flood control purposes. It has a discharge capacity of 1.2 million cubic feet per second (34,000 m³/s).

Cholistan Desert

Cholistan Desert, Saraiki:صحرائے چولستان, also locally known as Rohi (روہی) sprawls thirty kilometers from Bahawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan and covers an area of 26,300 km². It adjoins the Thar Desert extending over to Sindh and into India. The word Cholistan is derived from the Turkish word Chol, which means Desert. Cholistan thus means Land of the Desert. The people of Cholistan lead a semi-nomadic life, moving from one place to another in search of water and fodder for their animals.
