Guabito

Guabito is a town in the Changuinola District of the Bocas del Toro Province of Panama. It is a small town located directly across the Rio Sixaola from Sixaola, Costa Rica. An elevated former railroad grade and bridge connects Guabito to Sixaola. This border crossing is popular with tourists going between Costa Rica and Bocas del Toro. Guabito is one hour ahead of Sixaola because the Costa Rica-Panama border is also a time zone boundary.

Sixaola

This article is about the town of Sixaola. For the river, see Rio Sixaola. Sixaola is a small town in Talamanca of Limón Province, Costa Rica. The town is located on the Rio Sixaola (Sixaola River), which forms the Costa Rica-Panama border. Highway 36 ends in Sixaola. Sixaola is right across the river from Guabito, Panama. Both towns consist of homes, banana farms, and small businesses for locals. The Rio Sixaola is also the boundary between the Central and Eastern Time Zones.

Changuinola is a city in the Bocas del Toro Province of Panama. Changuinola is the capital of the Changuinola District and home to 25,099 people.
