Chanchamayo, Junín

Chanchamayo or La Merced is a town in the Junín Region in central Peru. It is the capital of the Chanchamayo District, which is located in the Chanchamayo Province. This region is located in the so-called jungle-eyebrow, which means that its geography is a mixture of mountains and jungle. The climate is not quite as hot and humid as it is in the jungle and not quite as cold and dry as it is in the mountains.

Perené River

The Perené River is a Peruvian river on the eastern slopes of the South American Andes. It is formed at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:10|57|06|S|75|17|00|W| | |name= }} at the confluence of the rivers Chanchamayu and the Pawkartampu, 15 km above the community of Perené, actually two pueblos of Santa Ana and Pampa Silva divided by the river, at 650 m above sea level. The river flows in a south-easterly direction; its length is 165 km.

Chanchamayo Province

Chanchamayo (in hispanicized spelling) or Chanchamayu (Quechua chanchay to walk and leap about, to walk quickly and confused, chancha chancha to walk quickly and irregularly, shancha a kind of bird, mayu river) is a province in northern Junín Region, in central Peru. The name of the province derives from the river Chanchamayu, whose source is in the Andean Sierra and flows northwards becoming the Perené River.

San Ramón, Junín

San Ramón is the second largest town in the Chanchamayo Province of the Junín Region, on the eastern slopes of the Andean Cordillera Oriental in Peru. San Ramón is situated on {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:11|07|29|S|75|21|25|W| | |name= }} at an elevation of 770 m above sea level. It lies at the confluence of Tarma River and Tulumayu which form the river Chanchamayu downstream and Perené River later. West of the city we find the Toro Huajrashga Mountain.
