Central Labour Camp in Potulice

After the end of World War II, the Central Labour Camp in Potulice (Polish: Centralny Obóz Pracy w Potulicach) became a detention centre for Germans and anti-communist Poles. It was set up by the Soviet and Polish Communist authorities in Potulice in place of the former Nazi German Potulice concentration camp (known as the Ostjugendbewahrlager Potulitz or Lebrechtsdorf camp), the subcamp of Stutthof built in 1941.

Potulice concentration camp

The Potulice concentration camp (German: UWZ Lager Lebrechtsdorf– Potulitz) was established during World War II by Nazi Germany on the territory of occupied Poland in Potulice near Nakło. The total of 25,000 prisoners went through the camp during its operation, before the end of 1944. It was also notable as a detention centre for Polish children that underwent the Nazi experiment in forced Germanisation.

Potulice

Potulice (previously also Kantów) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Nakło nad Notecią, within Nakło County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-central Poland. It lies approximately 7 kilometres south-east of Nakło nad Notecią and 22 km west of Bydgoszcz. It is best known as the site of the World War II German concentration camp Lebrechtsdorf. The village has a population of 2,100.
