Otwock

Otwock is a town in central Poland, some 15 miles southeast of Warsaw, with 42,765 inhabitants (2004). It is situated on the right bank of Vistula River below the mouth of Swider River. Otwock is home to a unique architectural style called Swidermajer. Otwock is situated in the Masovian Voivodship since 1999; previously, it was in Warszawa Voivodship (1975–1998). It is the capital of Otwock County. The town covers the area of 47 square kilometers. Forested areas make up 23% of the territory.

Józefów

Józefów is a town in Poland, located in Masovian Voivodeship, in Otwock County. It lies about 15 km southeast of downtown Warsaw and is a part of that city's metropolitan area. Located on a picturesque confluence of Vistula and Świder rivers, it is home to one landscape reserve and three natural reservation zones. As of 2006 it had 18,157 inhabitants.

Góraszka

Góraszka is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Wiązowna, within Otwock County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It lies approximately 3 kilometres north-west of Wiązowna, 8 km north of Otwock, and 20 km east of Warsaw. The village is near national road no. 17. It has an airfield where the Polish Eagles Foundation has held an "International Air Picnic" every year since 1996.

Maria reactor

The Maria reactor is Poland's second research nuclear reactor and the only one still in use. It is located at Świerk-Otwock, near Warsaw and named in honor of Maria Skłodowska-Curie. It is the only reactor of Polish design. Maria is a multifunctional research tool, with a notable application in production of radioisotopes, research with utilization of neutron beams, neutron therapy, and neutron activation analysis. It operates about 4000 hours annually, usually in blocks of 100 hours.

Ewa reactor

The Ewa Reactor was Poland's first research nuclear reactor. Its name is derived from the first letters of the Polish words: Eksperymentalny (Experimental), Wodny (Water), and Atomowy (Atomic) as a reference to the Eve Curie.
