The International Douro Natural Park (Portuguese: Parque Natural do Douro Internacional) is one of the thirteen natural parks of Portugal. It is located in the municipalities of Miranda do Douro, Mogadouro, Freixo de Espada à Cinta and Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, spanning through a wide area along the Douro River as it makes the border between Portugal and Spain (hence "International Douro"). The park also goes along the border area of the Águeda River.

The village presumably dates back to a Roman fort that existed on Mount Trinidad and of which there are almost no traces left. Fonte de Aldeia was first recorded in the Torre do Tombo register in 1528.
