2010 Chechen Parliament attack

The 2010 Chechen Parliament attack took place on the morning of 19 October 2010, when three Chechen militants attacked the parliament complex in Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic, a federal subject of Russia. At least six people were killed, including two police officers, one parliament employee and all three suicide commandos. The attack was seen as significant because of its target and timing.

Chechen Autonomous Oblast

Chechen Autonomous Oblast (Russian: Чеченская автономная область), or Autonomous Oblast of Chechnya (Russian: автономная область Чечни), was an autonomous oblast of the Russian SFSR, created on November 30, 1922 when it was separated from the Mountain Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. On January 15, 1934, Chechen and Ingush Autonomous Oblasts were merged to form Chechen–Ingush Autonomous Oblast.

Ingush Autonomous Oblast

Ingush Autonomous Oblast (Russian: Ингушская автономная область) was an autonomous oblast of the Russian SFSR in the Soviet Union, created on 7 July 1924. It was merged with the Chechen Autonomous Oblast to form the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Oblast on 15 January 1934.

Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Oblast (Russian: Чечено-Ингушская автономная область) was an autonomous oblast of the Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, created on January 15, 1934 by merging Chechen and Ingush Autonomous Oblasts. It was elevated in status to Chechen–Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic on December 5, 1936.

1999 Grozny refugee convoy shooting

The Grozny safe corridor shooting incident happened on December 3, 1999, when about 40 people fleeing the besieged Chechen capital Grozny were allegedly killed by Russian policemen. According to accounts from survivors, a refugee convoy consisting of about 50 people in seven or eight passenger cars and one bus marked with white flags, was heading towards the border with the Russian republic of Ingushetia, when they approached a federal roadblock near the village of Goity.
