Makhachkala Grand Mosque
The Grand Mosque in Makhachkala (Yusuf Bei Cami) is the main mosque of the Republic of Dagestan. It is supposed to have been patterned after the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul. The Sulak is a river in Dagestan, Russia. It starts at the confluence of the Avar Koysu and the Andi Koysu rivers. It comes down the Main Sulak Canyon (700-1500 m deep) and the Akhetl and Chirkei gorges and the Minor Sulak Canyon. Then it comes to the wide valley and forms a delta, flowing into the Caspian Sea.
