Loukhi

Loukhi is an urban locality and the administrative center of Loukhsky District of the Republic of Karelia, Russia, located on the shore of Lake Panovo, 500 kilometers north of Petrozavodsk. Population: 4,772; 5,920; 6,405. It was founded in 1912–1914 due to the construction of a railroad. It was granted urban-type settlement status in 1944. In 1978, Korean Air Lines Flight 902 was forced to land at the nearby Korpijärvi Lake after being attacked by Soviet aircraft.

Lake Keret

Lake Keret is a large freshwater lake in the Republic of Karelia, northwestern part of Russia. It has an area of 223 km². There are about 130 islands on the lake. Keret is used for fishery. Lake Keret freezes up in early November and stays icebound until late May.
