Battle of Tali-Ihantala

The Battle of Tali-Ihantala (June 25 to July 9, 1944) was part of the Finnish-Soviet Continuation War (1941–1944), which occurred during World War II. The battle was fought between Finnish forces—using war materiel provided by Germany—and Soviet forces. To date, it is the largest battle in the history of the Nordic countries. The battle was one of attrition, with the Finns suffering proportionally more casualties than the Soviet forces.

Zashchitnaya Bay

Zashchitnaya Bay is an end of Vyborg Bay in present-day Russian Federation in the City of Vyborg in the Leningrad Oblast. The Vyborg Bay is itself a bay of the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea. The Castle of Vyborg is located by it. Also the Park Monrepos is located by Zashchitnaya Bay. The old 1856 opened Saimaa Canal, as well as the new one, both begin in Zashchitnaya Bay, too.

Battle of Tienhaara

The Battle of Tienhaara was a part of Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union fought north of Viipuri on June 22 after the Red Army had captured Viipuri. Having lost Viipuri Finns concentrated their defense to the Tienhaara region which offered favourable area for defense with nearby waterway cutting the already narrow battlefield into several islands.
