Lovat River

The Lovat is a river in Vitebsk Oblast of Belarus, Usvyatsky, Velikoluksky, and Loknyansky Districts, as well as of the city of Velikiye Luki, of Pskov Oblast and Kholmsky, Poddorsky, Starorussky, and Parfinsky Districts of Novgorod Oblast in Russia. The source of the Lovat is Lake Lovatets in northeastern Belarus, and the Lovat is a tributary of Lake Ilmen. Transfiguration Monastery, Staraya Russa

The Transfiguration Monastery is a former Russian Orthodox monastery founded in 1192. The monastery is located in the city of Staraya Russa, on the right bank of the Polist River. It is currently occupied by the Staraya Russa Town Museum.

Lake Ilmen

Lake Ilmen is a historically important lake in the Novgorod Oblast of Russia, formerly a vital part of the Trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks. The city of Novgorod lies six kilometers below the lake's outflow. According to the Max Vasmer's Etymological Dictionary, the name of the lake originates from the Finnish "Ilmajärvi", which means "small lake". There are many lakes in Russia with their names being derivative from Lake Ilmen.
