Porkhov

Porkhov is a town and the administrative center of Porkhovsky District of Pskov Oblast, Russia, located on the Shelon River, 75 kilometers east of Pskov. Population: 10,608; 12,263; 14,170. The fortress of Porkhov is believed to have been founded in 1239 by Alexander Nevsky. The timber fortress was sacked by Algirdas in 1356 and fell in flames in 1387. The Novgorod Republic immediately rebuilt its fortifications in limestone 1300 metres downstream.

Dno (air base)

Dno is a former air base in Russia located 4 km south of Dno. It is an abandoned military airfield, probably demolished in the 1980s. Little trace remains except a clearing.

Sudoma River

The Sudoma River is a left tributary of the Shelon River, with its course located in Sudoma uplands in Dedovichsky and Bezhanitsky District of Pskov Oblast of Russia. The Sudoma is part of the Lake Ilmen drainage basin. The river has a length of 65 kilometres and drains a basin of 480 square kilometres . It rarely attains the width of 20 metres, being no deeper than 1 metre along its course. It notably flows through Sosonskaya Volost where a synonymous village also exists.
