Al Qunfudhah

Al Qunfudhah is a coastal town in western Saudi Arabia. It is located at around {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:19|7|35|N|41|4|44|E| | |name= }}. In 1976, LDS researcher Lynn Hilton identified Al Qunfudhah as a possible location for the site of Nahom, as described in the Book of Mormon; however, this theory has since been abandoned.

Battle of Kunfuda Bay

The Battle of Kunfuda Bay was the largest naval battle of the Italo-Turkish War. On January 7 of 1912, the Italian protected cruiser Piemonte and the destroyers Artigliere and Garibaldino discovered twelve Ottoman ships near the present day Kunfuda, Saudi Arabia in Kunfuda Bay. For over three hours the vessels engaged and in the end four Turkish gunboats were sunk and one yacht was captured along with four large dhows.
