Sulima, Sierra Leone

Sulima is a town in the extreme south east of Sierra Leone, lying at the mouth of the Moa River. Originally a trading post in the nineteenth century, it has a large population of refugees from Liberia.

Lomboko

Lomboko refers to a slave factory; a fortress stockade created by the infamous Spanish slave trader Pedro Blanco. It consisted of several large holding depots or barracoons for slaves brought from the interior, as well as several palatial buildings for Blanco's use, to hold his wives and concubines, and house his employees. Lomboko was scattered across several small islands at the mouth of the Gallinas river, near Sulima on the Gallinas coast.

Bo Waterside

Bo Waterside is a town in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia on the Mano River. It was a key border crossing between Liberia and Sierra Leone until 1990, when it closed after the launch of Charles Taylor's National Patriotic Front of Liberia invasion from Sierra Leone. The border crossing officially re-opened in June 2007 in an official ceremony involving government officials, humanitarian workers and significant amounts of foreign press coverage.

Bagla Hills

Bagla Hills are located in eastern Sierra Leone within the newly created Gola National Park near the border with Liberia. The site has been the subject of recent controversy between developers and conservationists. The Gola National Park has been subject to a study and report into the conflicts and lack of clarity between the mining and forestry sectors in Sierra Leone by Global Witness. The Bagla Hills are home to some of Africas most threatened wildife including the Jentink's Duiker.
