Umkhanyakude District Municipality uMkhanyakude, named after the yellow-barked fever tree, literally meaning “seen from afar”, is the northernmost district in KwaZulu-Natal and contains many areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the St Lucia greater wetland park, Sodwana Bay and Kosi Bay. Game parks include Hluhluwe-Umfolozi, Ndumu and Tembe Elephant Park. It is one of the 11 districts of KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.

Mkhuze Game Reserve

Mkhuze Game Reserve (also spelt Mkuze) is a 360-square-kilometre game reserve in northern Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It was proclaimed a protected area on 15 February 1912. The reserve has a diversity of natural habitats which include acacia savannah, mixed woodland, sand forest, riverine forest, rivers and pans, grassland, cliffs and rocky ridges.
