Mkhambathini Local Municipality

Mkhambathini Local Municipality is an administrative area in the UMgungundlovu District of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Mkhabathini is the isiZulu name for Table Mountain. Mkhambathini is well located in relation to Durban and Pietermaritzburg and adjoins Cato Ridge, a potential industrial node. The N3, which is identified in the Spatial Growth and Development Strategy as a provincial corridor, runs east west through the central part of the municipal area.

Forest Hills, Kloof

Forest Hills is a quiet working class suburb in the Outer West suburbs of Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The area borders on the Kloof Gorge which forms part of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, and is situated in between Kloof and Waterfall which is also about 7 km from hillcrest. Forest Hills is referred to as being part of the Kloof area as they are both situated on opposite sides of the Kloof Gorge, as a result the areas are joined by one road which runs through the Kloof Gorge.

Umgeni Steam Railway

Umgeni Steam Railway - a railway preservation group, started in 1982 subsequent to the donation of a small Dubs loco by Illovo Sugar, now located just outside Durban in a small village called Inchanga. The history of the line they use dates back to the 1880s when the first railway line was built to run from Durban-Pietermaritzburg (90 km by road). The line runs through a 53M long tunnel at Drummond built in 1878, and is probably the oldest tunnel in use today in South Africa.
