Puntagorda
Puntagorda (first part, Spanish for point, second part Spanish for fat/plump/large) is a municipality in the Canary Islands in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is situated on the northwestern coast of the island of La Palma. Puntagorda is linked with the highway that encircles the whole island and is located northwest of Santa Cruz de la Palma and NW of the La Palma Airport. MAGIC (telescope)
MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes) is a system of two Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes situated at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma, one of the Canary Islands, at about 2200 m above sea level. MAGIC detects particle showers released by gamma rays, using the Cherenkov radiation, i.e. , faint light radiated by the charged particles in the showers.
