Castle of Púbol

The Castle of Púbol (or Gala Dalí Castle, in Catalan Castell de Púbol or Castell Gala Dalí) is located in Púbol, in the comarca of Baix Empordà, Girona, Catalonia. It was the home to surrealist painter Salvador Dalí and his wife Gala (she is buried at the castle). Dalí bought the castle in 1969. It has been open to the public since 1996. In 1984, a fire broke out at the Castle in Dalí's bedroom under unclear circumstances.

Púbol

Púbol is a small town located in the comarca (county) of Baix Empordà, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. The artist Salvador Dalí lived at the Castle of Púbol; in 1982, he was named "Marquis of Dalí of Pubol" (spa. , "Marqués de Dalí de Pubol"). In fact Salvador Dali did not live there, he bought the castle for his wife, Gala, who lived there and granted him to visit her, only when she wanted.
