Thambiluvil

Thambiluvil is a coastal Town in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. It is approximately 8 miles south of Akkaraipattu along east coast. It was under Batticaloa district and now under Ampara district. Thambiluvilites are Tamils, mostly Hindus and their main source income is from farming. Since 1960, people choose educational based employments as alternative income. It is a famous place for the old Tamil cultures and Temples.

Thambiluvil Madhya Maha Vidyalayam

Thambiluvil Madhya Maha Vidyalayam (Tamil: தம்பிலுவில் மத்திய மகா வித்தியாலயம்) (also known as Thambiluvil Central College or Thambiluvil National College) is a provincial school in Thambiluvil, Sri Lanka. It is the main school in this education zone, it has about 60 academical staff. This school offering high level studies in a level including Bio-science, Physical science, Commerce and Arts. And have 4 modern highly maintained lab facilities for Science students and one ICT lab.

Thirukkovil

Thirukkovil or Tirukovil is a town in the Ampara District of Sri Lanka, situated along the eastern coast of the island. It is 30 km north of Pottuvil and 35 km south of Kalmunai. In Tamil it translates to God's-temple. It was affected by 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. It was under Batticaloa district and now under Ampara district. It is a famous place for the old Tamil cultures and temples. There is a Murugan temple: Sri Sithravalayutha Suvamy Kovil.

Akkaraipattu massacre

Akkaraipattu massacre happened on 19 February 1986 when approximately 80 minority Sri Lankan Tamil farm workers were allegedly killed by the Sri Lankan Army personnel and their bodies burned in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Although the alleged massacre happened on 19 February 1986, the incident came to light only few days later after community leaders visited the remote location near the town of Akkaraipattu, where the farm workers were shot.
