Falkenberg (fort)

Falkenberg was a fort in Falkenberg, Sweden. It was first mentioned in 1298. It would later give the town, which was previously known as Ätraby, its name. The fort was the location for several Nordic treaties during the fourteenth century. It was burnt down by count Erik in 1356, but was thereafter rebuilt. The army of Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson did, under the leadership of Herman Berman besiege the town in 1434. The defenders managed the first attack successfully.

Bengtsegård meadow

Bengtesgård meadow is a nature reserve in Falkenberg Municipality, Sweden. It has an area of 4.4 hectares and has been protected since 1972. Hawfinches nest in the area and another red-listed species, Grifola frondosa, can be found on the ground.

Falkenberg Town Hall

Falkenberg Town Hall is a listed modern building, built 1958-1959 and inaugurated 16 August 1960. Lennart Tham was chosen as architect after no less than three competitions, the last one in 1949. The building process was delayed due to the need to build a new fire station, as the town hall would be located where the old fire station had been situated. The building was to be Tham's last work and has been listed since 2006.

Falkenberg Bridge

The Falkenberg Bridge (Swedish Tullbron, literally "The Toll Bridge") is a stone arch bridge in Falkenberg, Sweden, built between 1756 and 1761. The bridge spans the Ätran river and is a listed building since 1984. It underwent major repair and restoration works in 1927 and 1994. The bridge is still in use and is used by an average of 3,800 vehicles a day. It was a toll bridge until 1914. The ruin of the fort Falkenberg is located close to the bridge, at the southern strand.

Saint Lawrence church, Falkenberg

Saint Lawrence church is located in Falkenberg old town, Sweden and probably built around 1300. It was the town's parish church until 1892, when it was replaced with Falkenbergs church. The church was burnt during the northern seven years' war (1563–1570). The parishers were in 1586 allowed to use the Crown's tolls and excise tax to rebuild the church. Large scale refurbishment took place in 1668 and in the mid-17th century.
