Kungsbacka Municipality

Kungsbacka Municipality (Kungsbacka kommun) is a municipality in Halland County on the Swedish west coast, some 30 km south of Gothenburg. The municipal seat is located in the town Kungsbacka. In 1969 Tölö was merged into the City of Kungsbacka. In 1971 the municipality was created when the city amalgamated with Särö. The final step was taken in 1974 when three more former municipalities were added to form the new entity.

Rolfsån is a river in Sweden, the main outflow of lake Lygnern. It empties out into the Kungsbacka Fjord.

Kungsbacka Fjord

The Kungsbacka Fjord is a fjord and a nature reserve in Halland County, western Sweden. The fjord is about 10 km long. It is delimited to the west by the Onsala Peninsula and to the east by the parish of Fjärås. The rivers Rolfsån and Kungsbackaån empty out into the fjord, which in turn opens to the Kattegat. The Kungsbacka Fjord Nature Reserve, established in 2005, has an area of 5200 hectares and is included in the Natura 2000 network.

Tjolöholm Castle

Tjolöholm Castle is a country house, built 1898-1904, in Halland, Sweden. It is located on a peninsula in the Kungsbacka Fjord on the Kattegat coast. Tjoloholm Castle was designed in the Arts and Crafts style by architect Lars Israel Wahlmann. In 2010, Danish film director Lars Von Trier shot the exterior scenes of the film Melancholia at the castle. The film premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
