Halland County

Halland County (Hallands län) is a county on the western coast of Sweden. It corresponds roughly to the cultural and historical province of Halland. The capital is Halmstad. It borders the counties of Västra Götaland, Jönköping, Kronoberg, Skåne and the sea of the Kattegat.

Halmstad GK

Halmstad GK (Halmstad Golf Klubb, or Halmstad Golf Club in English). Claiming a home among the towering pines and seaside lands of Sweden's golfing playground are the par 72-championship courses, the North Course and the South Course in Tylösand, just 8 km outside the town of Halmstad. It has several times been ranked as the best golf course in Sweden. The British journal Golf World voted Tylösand Europe's 2nd Best course outside the UK in 2001.

Hagbard's gallow

Hagbard's Gallow consists of two pair of menhirs, located in Asige, Sweden. The monument was probably constructed during the bronze age. The stone has engravings, some discovered in the 18th Century and some in modern times. The name is related to the legend of Hagbard and Signy, with which several other nearby remains are related as well. It is part of Ekomuseum nedre Ätradalen.

Hallands regemente

Hallands regemente (Halland Regiment), designations I 16 and I 16/Fo 31, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. It was disbanded in 2000. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the provinces of Västergötland and Dalsland, but it was later garrisoned in Halland.

Övraby

Övraby was the village that was left after the town Halmstad in Halland moved five kilometers to the south in 1320. The town Halmstad is believed to have been moved because the ships were growing too big to be able to travel up the river Nissan, one of the four rivers that flows through the county of Halland. The city would also be easier to defend with its new coastal position. On 2-3 November 1563, the Swedish forces led by King Erik XIV and Danish forces led by Fredrik II clashed in Övraby.
