Eriksöre

Eriksöre is a village located on the island of Öland, Sweden. It is also part of the annual harvest festival on the island. The village is located about 3 miles (5 km) away from the next town, Färjestaden, right at the foot of Ölandsbron. The major street, on which Eriksöre lies, is about 300 metres long.

Karlevi Runestone

The Karlevi Runestone, designated as Öl 1 by Rundata, is commonly dated to the late 10th century and located near the Kalmarsund straight in Karlevi on the island of Öland, Sweden. It is one of the most notable and prominent runestones and constitutes the oldest record of a stanza of skaldic verse.

Öland Bridge

The Öland Bridge is a road bridge connecting Kalmar on mainland Sweden to Färjestaden on the island of Öland to its east. At 6,072 meters long, it is one of the longest in all of Europe. It is supported by 156 pillars, and has a characteristic hump at its western end which was created to provide a vertical clearance of 36 m for shipping.

Kalmar Triathlon

Kalmar Triathlon is a triathlon race, the only in Sweden on the Ironman distance. It is also Swedish championship (concerns the Swedish participants). The distance is the same as for the Ironman races: 3860 m open water swimming, 180 km bicycle and 42,2 km running. Start, transition and finish is located in inner city Kalmar, Sweden. The race takes place in the end of July every year. The race record is 8:26:24 by Clas Björling from Sweden, year 2009.

Diocese of Kalmar

The Diocese of Kalmar was a division of the Church of Sweden between 1603 and 1915, when it was merged into the diocese of Växjö in order to allow the new diocese of Luleå to be formed. It was created as a subdivision to the diocese of Linköping, and was under the supervision of a superintendent. Only in 1678 was a bishop appointed, and Kalmar cathedral became an episcopal see in the term proper.
