Ydre Municipality

Ydre Municipality (Ydre kommun) is a municipality in Östergötland County, southeast Sweden. The municipal seat is located in the town of Österbymo. The municipality was created through the local government reform of 1952, when six former entities were united. The name was taken from the old Ydre Hundred. Its area remained unchanged by the reform of 1971.

Skurugata

Skurugata is a rock canyon in southern Sweden, an 800 metre long gorge which runs 20 to 50 metres deep and 7 to 24 metres wide. There are several different theories for its origin but one of the more popular theories is that it was created by parallel faulting. The mountain around the gorge itself and the stones spread across its bottom consist largely of grey-brown and dark-brown porphyritic rock with elements of quartz and red feldspar.

Skuruhatt

Skuruhatt is a steep hilltop near Skurugata in Eksjö Municipality with a great view of the hinterlands of Småland in southern Sweden. Nearby a stone has been placed with the following Swedish inscription by Albert Engström. Sommen

Sommen is a Swedish lake. Its area is 132 km² and its greatest depth is 60 m. (although deeper places are found every year) The lake is located in southern Sweden, and is bounded by the provinces of Östergötland and Småland. The lake is a clear-water lake, with a visibility of 9–11 m in the eastern parts of the lake. This makes Sommen one of the greatest clear-water lakes in Sweden. According to tradition Sommen has 365 islands, one for each day of the year. The actual number is around 350.
